We test 12v coolers for this summer’s drive

Cooling box 12v 24 liter Tristar (Jula)

This is a lightweight, small, flexible and very easily built cooler bag. It is easy to deal with. The entire lid, including the cooling device, is lifted off when using the bag.

It may seem sneaky that there are no hinges – but actually it is quite smart, as it is a detail that often breaks down on this type of cooler.

Only 12 V applies here, so no possibility to use the bag in the house or to cool it before going away. That’s a big minus.

Cooler Tristar 24 liter

The small bag gets cold quickly and comes down to quite low temperatures. Somewhere between 7-8 degrees the thermometer shows after a while. Approved.

Lightweight and smooth. Simple construction that is easy to handle – just plug in the cord. And the cord is quite long.

The bag cannot be plugged into the wall socket. Of course, this makes the scope quite limited. But maybe you can’t ask for such a cheap cooler bag

A 12v cooler in the car is the smartest way to bring food and drink on the road trip this summer. We have tested six different coolers in different sizes and price ranges.

Not all boxes can be refrigerated in the car – most boxes promise a cooling capacity of about 15 degrees below ambient temperature, and then it must be cool in the compartment if the boxes should come down to eight degrees.

If you have sensitive foods with you, it can be a good idea to supplement with a couple of cooling lamps, it makes a big difference.
